On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Federal Republic of Germany, together with Cultur-Cooperation International e. V. and Q Gallery Berlin, cordially invites you to a special encounter with art. Under the title "TRANSFORMATIONS", the exhibition presents selected works by Princess Sibylle of Prussia and Frank Rödel at Q Gallery Berlin from September 24 to October 23, 2026. The opening reception (vernissage) will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:30 PM. Art knows no borders – it connects cultures, opens hearts, and brings people together. The two outstanding artistic personalities, Princess Sibylle of Prussia and Frank Rödel, have not only traveled through Uzbekistan, but have experienced the country deeply through their artistic lens and captured it in a unique way in their works. Their participation in the International Art Biennale in Uzbekistan offered the artists direct access to the rich cultural diversity, complex history, and fascinating soul of the country. What they saw, felt, and experienced there finds a highly personal, expressive, and magical language in their works. "TRANSFORMATIONS" thus understands itself as an encounter in which art becomes a lasting bridge between worlds and a deep connection between human souls. Visitors are invited to embark on a journey of discovery through the art, beauty, and secrets of Uzbekistan. The Artistic Positions: Princess Sibylle of Prussia Through her work, Princess Sibylle of Prussia references the idea of Eden as a lost paradise, a place of longing for peaceful coexistence. The works in the exhibition are an attempt to encounter the threatening and dreadful nature of reality with a poetic visual language, possessing a potential akin to hope that a saving grace might occur. "We are," wrote the poet Rainer Maria Rilke in a letter in 1924, "... these transformers of the Earth, our whole existence, the flights and falls of our love, everything qualifies us for this task." Princess Sibylle of Prussia (*1952 in Berlin) studied humanities and art. For many years, she was a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and artistic director of the award-winning "Videoprojekt". She has been working as a freelance artist since 1994. In addition to numerous Percent-for-Art (Kunst-am-Bau) projects, grants, and publications, her works are represented in major public collections (including the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin and Deutsche Bank). Frank Rödel In his works, Frank Rödel processes his encounter with the centuries-old culture and the Silk Road metropolises of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. While his photographs capture direct impressions, his complex mixed-media and encaustic works are multi-layered condensations: Like raking light in the dark, they assemble fragments of calligraphic details, subtle architecture, painterly gesture, and graphic precision into a mysterious kaleidoscope. His paintings represent a interplay between abstraction and representation – an attempt to make the notions and interconnections of this great intellectual world visually tangible. Frank Rödel completed his studies in fine art painting at the UdK Berlin as a master student. His works have been exhibited worldwide in renowned institutions, including the Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin, the German House in New York, as well as the National Galleries in Bangkok and Tashkent. He is a laureate of the 5th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art.
